Overview
Far as we can remember Sri Lanka then known as “Ceylon” was called the Pearl of the Indian Ocean, and this was not so due to any abstract reason but for the shire beauty of this island surrounded by coastal beaches as far as the eye can see. This beauty does not limit itself to just shorelines but further extends underneath the clear blue seas where lies the fascinating world of a sub-aquatic wonderland which can only be fully appreciated by snorkeling and Scuba Diving.

Sri Lanka is abundantly gifted with underwater attractions, which surround its coast. Its tropical location in the Indian ocean between 5º and 9º North of the equator and soothing warm water at an inviting 27º C is the essence of her precious natural beauty.

The vibrant and beautifully shaped coral is home to a varied number of fish species that include the Emperor Angel, the Moorish Idol, Powder blue Surgeon, Sergeant-Major, Lion, Unicorn, Parrot Fish, Clown, Porcupine, Rays, Eels and others. For the more adventurous and enterprising divers, dozens of shipwrecks litter our coastline, almost always close to rocks and reefs and in clear accessible waters. These wrecks add a sense of adventure to all divers who have glided through these beautiful waters coming to know a different Sri Lanka, apart from its historical wealth, scenic beauty and the diverse cultures that she offers so abundantly.

Though the programmes are centered around diving a few of the main highlights of historical, cultural and scenic interest have been included in the second programme leaving the first programme primarily

DESCRIPTIONS OF DIVE SITES

Wreck Conch
Oil tanker that sank in 1903, depth between 14 meters – 22 meters. Travelling time by boat 45 minutes. You could see beautiful corals and many species of tropical fish.

Wreck Earl of Schaftsbury
Sail ship which sank in 1877 (one piece), depth 16 meters. Travelling time by boat 30 minutes. Many Barracudas, Big Grouper and Rays.

Wreck Ethopy
Cargo ship which sank in 1877 (many pieces & big engine), depth 10 – 15 meters. Travelling time by boat 60 minutes. Many species of fish.

Wreck Rangoon
Sail ship (one piece); depth 20 – 35 meters. Travelling time by boat 120 minutes. Corals and many fish.

Madagala Wreck
Two pieces, depth 20 – 28 meters. Travelling time by boat 60 minutes. Big Grouper, Rays and may other fish could be seen.

Kirala Gala
Art of dive: deep rift dive. Maximum depth 24 – 35 meters. Travelling time by boat 20 minutes. Barracudas, Murray Eels and many other fish.

Black Coral Point
Art of dive: Rift dive. Maximum depth 20 – 35 meters. Travelling time by boat 20 minutes. Groupers, Jack Fish, Snappers, Big Rocks and Black Corals.

Godagala
Art of dive: Rift dive. Depth 06 – 28 meters. Travelling time by boat 25 minutes. Manta Ray, Big Grouper and other fish.

Hikkaduwa Gala
Art of dive: Rift dive. Depth 02 – 21 meters. Travelling time by boat 20 minutes. Groupers, Snappers
And many other fish.

All divers are accompanied by fully trained PADI Dive Master & Rescue Diver.

The diving school provides many other courses – Boat dive of 03 days, deep dive of 03 days, rift dive of 03 days, underwater naturalist 02 days, search and recovery 02 days, night diving 02 days, equipment specialist 01 day and wreck diver 03 days. All clients who take these tours, require a PADI License or equivalent
